(UK) The self appointed Muslim Council of Britain claims to champion the cause of Islam in the UK, and as such, speaks out against any form of injustice towards the faith. Be it intolerance towards Islam at work, schools, hospitals or even historical, you can be sure that the MCB will voice an opinion on the polarised society it perceives as Great Britain.
At this current moment in time, while British soldiers are fighting the good fight against the more odious elements of the Islamic faith in Afghanistan, the MCB has launched a public offensive against the ugliness Islam faces in Europe today.
The chairman of the MCB presents his case to the readers of The Guardian with the massacre in Srebrenica 14 years ago, linking in the recent election of 2 BNP MPs, the murder of that poor Muslim woman in Germany, finishing with the ban on the hijab in France, as signs that Islam is a faith under siege in Europe.
That article was preceded by how his pet monkey Inayat Bunglawala who, as the the media secretary for the MCB, wrote an article in The Guardian the other day about the rise of Anti-Islam attacks in the UK.
Both those articles are backed up by public statements on the MCB web pages.
What I find disturbing about the MCB is, while it is very quick in which to play the victim card over the slightest slight to Islam, it never seems to comment on Islamic outrages in the UK. When they transpire, all I hear from the MCB is the sound of silence or, more often, a counter claim about how they can only be victims to the non-Islamic population of the GB.
But that's just it. You see, after numerous bomb attacks in France, Germany, Spain, England, riots in nearly every European country, honour killings by the dozen, outrageous court cases of victimization and millions of Islamic Asylum seekers are the Muslims of Europe (but in this case the UK) really getting attacked for belonging to the faith? Are they bollocks? If anything, the vast majority (around 99.99%) of Europeans have not violently reacted to the really ugly expressions of Islam which on a daily basis capture the headlines.
However, that passive nature is being tested, which is why the far-right is slowly growing in strength in the UK. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I cannot see a day when the far right rule the UK, as the British people simply aren’t that stupid. But the fact remains: one of the reasons why the right is gaining votes is over how the likes of the MCB remain silent on the ugliness which permeates Islam around the world. Be it refusing to listen to the people, oppressing women or just your day by day beheading of a non-Muslim. Instead of openly speaking out against such barbarity the MCB plays the victim card.
Just think how the British would react if, say, the MCB took out a newspaper spread in which to publicly denounce those who commit the latest terrorist outrage, those who oppress women in the name of Allah and those who give Islam a bad name by playing the victim card for stupid and often pathetic reasons. Yes, show us all that you really do care about the wrongs committed in your name, that you share the same concerns that we all do.
Instead, the MCB harks back to the past in which to show how bad the Muslims of Europe have had it. The thing is, he left out of that bitch pitch how the so called freedom fighters of that UN safe haven declared that they would launch attacks on the Serbs in the presumed thought that the Serbs wouldn’t chase them as the UN troops would prevent any payback.
