The Islamic Republic of Mauritania — It's Where 600,000 People (20% of the Population) Are Slaves

More than half a million slaves are at the heart of a presidential election battle in the former French colony of Mauritania.

According to Wikipedia, "[m]odern day slavery is still a common practice in this country" and the number of slaves is "estimated to be up to 600,000 men, women and children, or 20% of the population of 3,069,000 people".

You would think that all those countless so-called human rights groups and organizations would be on Mauritania's case, right?

Or maybe one of those UN Human Rights Commissions can look into this matter?

Unlikely. They are all busy trying to prevent the Jews from building houses in Israel.
